Born and raised in New
York, Rosario Dawson has a unique mixed heritage – Afro-Cuban, Puerto
Rican, Irish, and Native American – and a fast-talking style. She
was discovered in 1995 sitting on her stoop, by filmmaker Larry Clark,
as he was looking for teenagers to cast in his low-budget directorial
debut, Kids. Rosario's first acting role in the controversial
and powerful pseudo-documentary brought her to the attention of Spike
Lee, who cast her in his 1997 film, He Got Game.
Next came Light It Up, opposite
Forest Whitaker and Usher, and King of the Jungle, alongside
John Leguizamo. Rosario's first starring role in a big-budget movie
came with the comic book adaptation/social commentary Josie and
the Pussycats.
Recently, she has appeared in Men
in Black II, with Will Smith, The Adventures of Pluto Nash,
with Eddie Murphy, and The 25th Hour, with Edward Norton.

On Josie and the Pussycats... Sexy trio
Rosario Dawson, Tara Reid and Rachael Leigh Cook had to wear hipster
pants with six-foot tails attached to the back, and crew would step
on the tails just to get a glance at the stars' bottoms. Dawson
says, "We also had these high-heeled prostitute shoes and we
kept stepping on the tails ourselves and it would pull the back
of the pants and people would be checking out your a** crack all
the time."
